For the Common Good Pt. 2

In part two of our Holy Spirit series, Pastor Javier led us deeper into Jesus’ words in John 16:5–11, showing us both the beauty and weight of the Spirit’s ministry. Building on last week’s reminder that the Spirit is a person—not a force but the very presence of God—we reflected on how Christ’s sacrifice secured for us the Father’s gift of His Spirit, who now indwells believers.

At the same time, the Spirit is actively at work in the world, bringing conviction in three areas: sin, righteousness, and judgment. We saw that unbelief in Christ is the root sin that separates us from God, that true righteousness is found only in Jesus who returned to the Father, and that judgment has already fallen on the enemy through the victory of the cross. Together these truths call us to walk with urgency and boldness, trusting the Spirit’s conviction and guidance in our daily lives as adopted sons and daughters of God.

En la segunda parte de nuestra serie sobre el Espíritu Santo, el pastor Javier nos guió más profundamente en las palabras de Jesús en Juan 16:5–11, mostrándonos tanto la belleza como el peso del ministerio del Espíritu. Recordando lo que vimos la semana pasada —que el Espíritu es una persona, no una fuerza, sino la misma presencia de Dios— reflexionamos en cómo el sacrificio de Cristo aseguró para nosotros el regalo del Padre: Su Espíritu que ahora habita en los creyentes.

Al mismo tiempo, el Espíritu está obrando activamente en el mundo, trayendo convicción en tres áreas: pecado, justicia y juicio. Vimos que la incredulidad en Cristo es el pecado raíz que nos separa de Dios, que la verdadera justicia se encuentra solo en Jesús que regresó al Padre, y que el juicio ya ha caído sobre el enemigo mediante la victoria de la cruz. Estas verdades nos llaman a vivir con urgencia y valentía, confiando en la convicción y la guía del Espíritu en nuestra vida diaria como hijos e hijas adoptivos de Dios.
